Gavoi. The beautiful town, its churches and craftsmen
This guided tour will take place mainly in the beautifully restored old town of Gavoi, along with its churches, civil buildings and various craft workshops.
Gavoi is a pretty village located on a hill in the so-called Barbagia of Ollolai and surrounded by forests and Mediterranean vegetation.
The old town has been carefully restored and buildings are mainly built using Sardinian granite. The restoration has preserved the ancient architecture style making Gavoi a lovely place to visit.
We will walk through the many narrow streets in the village to admire some of the most authentic design feature of the Sardinian tradition. We will also visit the beautiful local churches including the Parish of Saint Gavino, Proto and Gianuario built the 16th century. This church is characterized by the presence of an imposing bell tower, and a beautiful rose window of the late Gothic period.
We will then visit two craftsmen showrooms in the village. We can choose from the craftsman of ancient musical instruments, that of wood or leather. Alternatively, we can visit a gastronomy showroom, depending on the availability of the day, to know some secrets of the local cuisine.
