Lunch with the shepherds in Mamoiada, Museum and artisan visit

The day begins with a visit to the beautiful Museum of Masks in Mamoiada and continues with a meeting in the workshop of a local artisan. We will better understand the types of wood used and how the worldwide famous Mamuthones masks are made.

The day then continues with a delicious lunch with the local shepherds.

To better enjoy some of the most famous Sardinian dishes, there is no better way than an outdoor lunch with the shepherds. Our friend Fausto will prepare a great traditional lunch on the San Cosimo plateau at 1000 meters of altitude, surrounded by the beautiful Mamoiada countryside. The food is prepared according to local customs and offered near the 17th century Sanctuary of Saints Cosimo e Damiano. Ingredients are fresh and cooked on the spot. Of course, the food is accompanied by an excellent local red Cannonau wine. At the end of the meal there will be a good digestive prepared by the shepherds. All the ingredients are genuine and come from local farms.

Once the lunch is over, you will assist at the dressing of Mamuthone. This is an ancient ritual followed by some fascinating canto a Tenore that will keep you company during the afternoon.

The fixed menu includes: homemade cold meats and local cheeses, lamb stew, piglet on the spit, vegetables, typical local dessert, wine, water and digestive spirit.
